broken passenger window

so the sienna hasn't been in an accident apart from a few scratches here and there, but there's one thing that's been bugging me. The previous owner said he was starting it up once a month and rolling it a bit to prevent flatspots on the tires and a few weeks ago when we got in to started he claims that the passenger window shattered from nothing, noone threw a rock, nothing fell, nothing, just a mess. Haven't had something like this happen to me before so I'm asking if it's something I should be mindful off? are the windows thinner or it's a weird coincidence? also, should i go to Toyota for a replacement or get an aftermarket one?

No, the windows are not thinner. It's probably just hidden damage that wasn't disclosed to you. From nothing tho? That's almost impossible because there's gotta be a reason like a small crack or pressure from misaligned tracks or something. You have cheaper options if it's aftermarket.

Had this happen to me many years ago on the back window and the only explanation I can think of is thermal stress. It was blazing hot and i turned on the ac instantly. That was the first and only time its happened

yeah, it's highly unlikely that the sienna's windows are thinner than normal like what @Fridaythe13th said.. spontaneous window shattering is not a common issue but there are very rare cases. temperature changes can indeed play a role like in @footballcoach's experience but again, it's still unusual so i'm guessing there might be an imperfection during manufacturing.. i don't know. getting an aftermarket window could save you some money, just make sure you choose from a reputable manufacturer too! but an oem guarantees a perfect fit and finish!
