Does smaller spare tire is not good for AWD?

I want to buy a spare tire for my 2023 Sienna AWD limited but I've heard that for AWD vehicles all tires need to be the same size so there won't be any stress to the differential. Does that mean that i can't buy a donut spare tire?

Yeah, I've looked into that too, with AWD, you're right, tire size matters because of the way power gets distributed. A donut can technically work temporarily, but only for short distances and low speeds. It's more of a get you to the shop. If you want peace of mind for longer trips, a full size matching spare is the safer bet, but it more space and cost, but saves the diff from stress.

yeah, different sized wheels and tirea are no bueno on an awd vehicle. I get that you already got the donut, but maybe consider a full size spare?

You're spot on about AWD vehicles, like your 2023 Sienna, needing all tires to be uniform in size to prevent putting stress on the differential. A regular donut spare is just too small and might create problems for the drivetrain

For your Sienna, consider checking out a compact spare, such as the Modern Spare kit. It's made to match your tire size and is safe for use with AWD. It's a great choice to help you out temporarily without risking any damage

I agree, all tires should be the same size to avoid stressing the differential. While a donut spare tire is smaller and not ideal for AWD vehicles, its generally recommended to have a full size spare that matches the other tires to ensure proper function.

A standard donut won't fit your Sienna because AWD requires all tires to be the same size. For the AWD, look for a small spare that is compatibel with your tires. It may require minor modifications to fit.Consult an expert first.
