Why the gas door won't shut?

So my family recently got this 23 Sienna Hybrid and it's really great however, when it's really cold, we're talking about freezing cold, the gas door won't close!

One time, a message popped up saying I needed gas, after filling up the gas door just wouldn't close. it eventually closed after some fiddling. it was about 10 degrees when this happened.

Now we're hitting 5 degrees and it's happening again! what the hell is with this gas door and the cold weather? has anyone else seen this?

Yeah, cold weather can freeze the gas door's latch or seal, making it hard to close, you can try warming the area gently or using a silicone spray on the latch to prevent sticking

Have you noticed if any ice or frost builds up around the latch or hinge, maybe something's expanding or sticking when it gets that cold?

Yeah, agree with the comment above, maybe you can a little silicone lubricant on it. Has your dealer mentioned if it's a known issue with this model?

Have you asked your dealer if they know about this? Certainly, cold weather can freeze up latches, and I agree that warming them a bit or using some lube usually fixes it.
