mirror wobbling dismissed as "normal"—need help
2025 sienna platinum AWD, driver-side mirror shakes like crazy on bumpy roads or over 30 mph. incoming cars look distorted, especially at night with lights. almost made me slam the brakes the first time. feels dangerous—like an accident waiting to happen.
started day one, right after picking it up. took it back to the dealer (2 hr drive) and they replaced the mirror. didn't fix it, but they wouldn't let me test-drive to confirm before signing off. red flag much? they pushed me to call toyota brand engagement, who then sent me back to the dealer. after weeks of back and forth, they wanted me to test another car, swap mirrors, and see what happens. are they serious?
moved to a closer dealership. shop foreman there agreed there's an issue, but toyota still calls it "normal." they even opened a DPR and escalated it to engineering. still nothing.
anyone else deal with toyota brushing off issues like this? or have tips on how to push them harder? at this point, i'm just looking for anything that helps.

As I've learned dealers will rely on a visual inspection. No fancy sensors or high tech gadgets to measure a mirror wobble. And let's be real if you've already gotten a second opinion and they said the same thing it might not be as significant as it feels. It's easy to focus on minor imperfections when you've just bought a vehicle, especially if buyer's remorse is creeping in.

That said it's worth following up if the shake genuinely affects your driving or visibility. Just keep your expectations grounded. Dealers will likely stick to the basics when checking for issues like this. Sometimes simpler solutions (or just living with it) are the most practical approach.

That's a bummer and a poor quality from Toyota which is weird. What about nhtsa? Maybe filing a complaint can help you get the problem solved or at least raise some awaraeness

I totally get how frustrating that is, especially when it's from Toyota. Filing a report with the NHTSA makes a lot of sense. Even if it doesn't resolve the issue immediately, at least it gets documented, and that could help others in a similar situation. Have you checked to see if there's a TSB available for it yet?
